Bullet test ride before Ladakh!

After my first ride to Spiti, got stuck with work in office and went to Bangalore, came back in November 2007 and bought a new Bullet Electra-5s 350cc from Manmohan Auto Stores Sector-27 Chandigarh. Then went to Mumbai leaving behind my new possession. In March 2008  Moy and I finalized our Ladakh plan for June 2008.
So we left for a small ride to Chakrata - Mussorie to check and have a feel of bullet in hills.

Again after 1 year of Spiti ride with Moy and Sandeep, I left with Moy on 28th March'2008 to Chakrata.

Bike - Bullet electra 5s 350cc 2007
Rider - Puneet
Pillion - Moy

On 28th March'2008, we left Chandigarh at 5:30pm and rode to Paonta to stop for tea and refuelling. We rode 130kms non stop in 2.5 hours with 5litres petrol.
Then enquired about way to Chakrata. Reached there at 11:30pm in the night. The whole town was sleeping and after a few random door knocks got a place to spend night. A decent room for 200/- with T.V. Forgot the name of guest house. Next morning gave us fresh views of green hills, did a trek to Tiger falls from Chakrata. Was very tiring and long, we thought it would be a 3km one but it was almost 3 times of what we predicted earlier.
Chakrata is a peaceful hill station, away from chaotic city life situated around 85 kms from Dehradun, ahead of VikasNagar - HerbertPur.

Approx distance of Chakrata from a few cities:
  • Delhi to Chakrata – 310kms
  • Rishikesh to Chakrata – 140kms
  • Devprayag to Chakrata – 210kms
  • Tehri to Chakrata – 151kms
  • Pauri to Chakrata – 252kms
  • Dehradun to Chakrata – 85kms
  • Kempty Falls to Chakrata – 65kms
  • Mussoorie to Chakrata – 79kms
  • Chamba to Chakrata – 133kms
  • Barkot to Chakrata – 85kms
  • Uttarkashi to Chakrata – 154kms
  • Roorkee to Chakrata – 155kms
  • Dhanaulti to Chakrata – 108kms
  • Haridwar to Chakrata – 152kms
  • Paonta Sahib to Chakrata – 73kms
  • Chandigarh to Chakrata - 200kms

Got a hotel for 300Rs for the night and went out to Hippo bar for a few beers and food.
Mussorie in contrast to calm Chakrata was full of tourists and couples. We could see a vibrant view of Dehradun lighting from somewhere on Mall road in Mussorie.

We came from back side of Mussorie via Yamuna Pul, Kempty falls on the way.

Next day was a Sunday, we started from Mussorie around 3:30 pm back for Chandigarh and reached there at around 9 pm to go for last show of movie "Khuda Kay liye".

And my Bullet test was successful, so much that I never noticed its average on any other trip. I was so happy with the power, the control, the torque, the stance, the sound, the looks, the comfort, everything except the braking of bullet.
And for my next ride to top of the world - Ladakh, I considered myself an eligible rider.
